The Singapore Grand Prix Night Race
the words of PM Lee "Singaporeans should be proud"
Singapore Grand Prix was very successful..
throughout the world newpapers, news broadcast will all be broadcasting this one event the Singapore Grand Prix. We have booked a spot on the global map.. Singapore, my home, my national tiny as a small red dot on the map has made world history..
this is truely an event which will leave its tracks in my mind and my heart.. and i completely agree with PM Lee that Singaporeans should be proud, and with the first ever youth olypmics held in Singapore in 2010 i wonder , one could only wonder..
All this has flooded the news this morning after race night..
i am happy to say, i have witness this very event unfold right before my very eyes.. with the f1 cars zooming by, flood lights, flashes from the many cameras, the atomsphere, and the very feeling of being about 5 to 10 meters away from the f1 cars will take your breath away.. or at least it did take my breath away...
for those who did not get to watch the F1 live.. dont worry... Singapore will be able to host the f1 race for the next 4 years..so dont miss out on the once in a life time chance...
besides the reason of being there to witnes history in the making live i went there with another purpose to take photos.. however the photos did not turn out great, i would say one of the worst pictures i have taken..... if only..............
on the right of the picture, Fernando Alonso winner of the first ever night race in the world.. i must say, i did not expected him to win... he started at 15th position and made his way to the top..

at the tracks...
very sorry for the quality of photos...

this was something similar to the tunnel which the drivers drove through.. and of cos this photo was not taken on race night..

those who came..
they have witness history... but i feel bad man.. making them follow me around cos i want to take photos... and worst, my photos look like.... if only.............if only have appeard twice in this post....
well i feel that if only i have a better camera like the D3 which has an image sensor which can reach ISO of 25,000 which is almost as sensitive and the human eye...
if only i have a longer lens then i can get past those trees which got very irritating cos they where blocking my shots
if only i had a better spot to shot the cars
if only i was at the grandstand and maybe i will be able to get a better photo
if only i was one of the offical photographers like Darren Heath then i will be able to take good photos..
and a whole lot of other if onlys........
but i have to remember that its not the camera that makes the photo, its the person behind the camera...
yes the camera does help but only to a certain extand, the rest still boils down to the photographer, when i pushes the shutter, wat shutter speed was set, wat aperture size was set, white balance, ISO, sharpness and a host of others factors which make a good photo...

maybe this is a sign for me to hit the books again... to learn yet another skill how to take f1 cars... photography is painting with light... something so phenomenal so board... something which cannot be understood overnight...
photography.... photography...... wat have i got myself into....
4 years back i got my first camera... knowing nothing about photography... as everyone will normally do.. we took pictures of everything under the sun.....
1 1/2 years later i got my second camera... a noticeable upgrade... to a camera with a 10x optical zoom.. back then i thought all about getting the longest zoom.. which was i think 12x optical.. but no $$$ so i was only at 10x... but having a long zoom is not all about photography i didnt know back then...
about 1 year later.... i got myself a DSLR... nikon D50... this change the way i took photography.... $1388.... it was serious money for a student.... and my journey begin... i've took over 14000 photos with this camera since, not really a lot, but its hard to find time to spend a day out taking photos..... i have to find time....
when will a be able to upgrade my camera.... i'm looking at the D300, i'm not ready to go full frame with the D700 or D3... but the issue here is $$$..
if only........
if only........
well i manage to borrow a waterproof camera from my friend for the redang trip... its only 2mp.. but remember its the person behind the camera.. the only part which i'll loss out is i can blow up the photos to super8R...
i think the photo quality is pretty good for a camera which is so old... cant wait to see how this camera perform underwater... yet another art of photography... this is something i never never thought i will be doing... lets hope for great photos..anyway....
with the many if onlys, if onlys, if only...... its time i say wat i have been trying to say throught this post... yes its all about the F1 and me and my photography....
with the many if onlys, if onlys, if only...... its time i say wat i have been trying to say throught this post... yes its all about the F1 and me and my photography....
but the main message i would like to bring across is that, we have to focus on wat we have... and not wat we dont have... this way "if only" will not occur that often and then of cos you will be a much more happier person...
i fondly remember, the first time i started working partime at takashimaya in the chocolate shop called maxims' hamper and gifts, now known as The Chocolatier... there was this guy by the name of xing chen... we had to do wrapping during christmas.. then there was this time when he ask if got double sided tape.. then as you know christmas everywhere very messy so.. cant find it.. then he say "make do with wat we have" so we use the normal tape in the end...
something so simple... something which is almost common sense has yet such a deep meaning when you look deeper...
food for thought....... :).....
ps: i must say this is the longest most wordest (if there's such a word) post i have ever done... its a record..... well the thoughts keep flowing... when there is time you think.. and think and think... i hope it does not make my hair turn white..
psps: i will take better photos... raffles girls motto.. the best is yet to come.... stay tune...
