today will go down in history as Singapore brings home their first ever Olympic medal after becoming independent in 1965..
this will be Singapore's second silver medal with the first coming from weight lifting... Singapore is now 49th in the medal tally along with Malaysia and a host of other competing nations...
though there are certain controversies about the table tennis players not being Singaporean at birth.. i say, the coach along with the players are all not born in Singapore, and even Tao Li the first ever Singaporean swimmer to make in to the finals of a swim event in the olympics for the matter is not born in Singapore... however, i dont see this as a matter which we as a Nation, Singapore should make a fuss about... they have all become Singapore citizens, Permanent residents of Singapore.. doesnt matter what country there were from before... what really matters is that they have given their best and brought an end the the olympic medal drought of Singapore.. i believe that this is just the beginning.. with the first ever youth olympics in 2010 which is held in Singapore, Singapore will be able to deliever the goods.. as One people, One Nation , One Singapore.. we'll have to believe in Team Singapore...
